Ruskin in Sheffield: Make Good Livelihoods

16 Jun

We are delighted to announce the Ruskin in Sheffield 2016 programme of events and activities: Make Good Livelihoods. This year’s programme is about celebrating craftspeople, their skills, and how craftsmanship makes a satisfying living for makers and their communities. You are invited to come and see makers in their workspaces, their neighbourhoods, and the city centre, and have a go at making something yourself. We enter the spirit of Sheffield’s Year of Making to celebrate all that Ruskin admired about the ‘hand-power’ and ‘heart-passion’ of craftsmanship and how it helps make better lives.

The inspiration for Ruskin in Sheffield: Make Good Livelihoods comes from the artworks and ideas in the exhibition In the Making: Ruskin, Creativity and Craftsmanship, supported by the Guild of St George, at the Millennium Gallery until 5th June. We are grateful for support towards Ruskin in Sheffield 2016 from Arts Council England, Sheffield Hallam University, Year of Making and Museums Sheffield.

A listing of the events and activities are available via the main web page: Ruskin Sheffield

ALL EVENTS ARE FREE & NO BOOKING REQUIRED (unless otherwise stated)
