Winn Gardens Clean up – SCC Ward Pot Funded

3 Nov

WINNGS community group was set up by St Johns (Owlerton) community outreach worker (Jane Emson) who helped the group to apply for funding from the Hillsborough Ward pot to organise a community clean up day in Winn Gardens during October half term 2016.

Hillsborough Ward Councillors funded the group £298 from the ward pot for equipment, materials, room hire and refreshments.

The clean up day was an event for all the people living on Winn Gardens. Children adults and young people got involved in the litter pick and were encouraged to take pride in their efforts and in their own community.

All participants on the estate were given a brief around litter from Amey who came along to support the event and to dispose of all the litter collected.

SIV volunteered to get involved and Cllr George Lindars-Hammond was present to show his support too.

To round the day off, a free snack buffet was provided and SIV provided complimentary free family swim or ice skating passes for the Winn Gardens volunteers.
