Winn Gardens Community Clean

2 Mar

Local residents of Winn Gardens recognise that litter free streets and public spaces say a great deal about a community and the people who live in it, and have worked with the Hillsborough ward councillors and Jane Emson (Community Outreach Worker) to organise a community clean-up which took place on Thursday 22nd February 2018.  The Hillsborough ward councillors provided community litter picking equipment from the ward pot funding and are very keen to support local groups who work to bring people together and keep the area clean.

The community clean up event wasn’t arranged to only focus on a community clean up, but also bring together families living on the estate.  Local people do not have to join a group to do their bit for the community as they can help with organised events or alternatively can carry out voluntary litter picking on the street where they live.  Also, prevention is better than cure – so if you have any ideas on how to stop people dropping litter then please get in touch with your local councillors at: http://democracy.sheffield.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx?XXR=0&AC=WARD&WID=12926
