Blend Kitchen : Mother’s day lunch

5 Mar

This March, Sheffield based social enterprise Blend are hosting a one off mothers day Sunday lunch special. The event taking place at the Printhouse on North Church Street in the city centre, will comprise a seasonal 3 course Sunday lunch including a complementary cocktail for all the mums. Starters include a chicken, ham and leek terrine or smoked mackerel with potato and beetroot salad and a horseradish crème fraiche, while main courses include roast loin of pork, thyme and fennel seed stuffing, apple sauce, crackling and roasting juices or baked fillets of sea bass, ratatouille and basil oil. For dessert there’s the choice of either a selection of Yorkshire cheeses, lemon posset with raspberry’s or pear tarte tatin. Costing £16 for adults and £8 for children, the profits raised from the event will be used to run additional family cookery clubs.

The clubs funded predominantly by Children in Need, work in partnership with a number of Sheffield primary schools. The free sessions provide children and their parents with the opportunity to cook together and enjoy an affordable and nutritious family meal. Since launching the family cookery club project last October, Blend have worked with 30 families in the Firth Park and Shire green area. Money raised from the mothers day event will contribute towards the expansion of the programme.

Blend manager Chris Hanson said “the mothers day lunch will be a great way to reward all our hard working mums out there. Also, the money we raise through the event will contribute to helping other children and their parents in less fortunate circumstances to enjoy a great meal and learn some new skills”.

To book a place at the event either call Blend on 07468417353 (Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm) or email
