Step in to a parallel universe of sci-fi, mystery and magic as Sheffield promises another Out Of This World event for all the family on Sunday 23 October.

Back by popular demand, people can now start thinking about their costumes for this year’s event celebrating the best of the strange, spooky, stupendous and supernatural.

Last year, the festival celebrating all things out of the ordinary brought us comic book characters, movie-themed cars, zombies, puppets, live music, fairground rides and even a giant dragon, and now it’s back for a third year with more surprises in store.

Richard Eyre, Head of City Centre Management and Major Events, said: “Out Of This World is back and promises to be just as much fun as last year. With this event seeing is believing, it’s not your traditional comicon, it’s an all-out celebration of the wacky, weird and wonderful.

“People will be in awe of sci-fi characters, amazed by illusionists and even a little spooked in our horror zone.

“Last year, the event attracted thousands of visitors from all over the country. It has grown in size to become one of the most popular events of this kind in the UK.

“So save the date and join us in October for an Out of This World experience which really does have something for everyone.”

The event will once again be divided into three zones on the themes of sci-fi, magic and horror.

Favourites Magic Carpet Theatre will be back with more illusions and magic shows and workshops, The Moor will bring spooktacular fun for the little ones and for the first time the grandeur of the Town Hall will be taken over by sci-fi, gaming and comics. The Winter Garden and Peace Gardens will be home to a whole host of characters, plus music and dance entertainment, and Barkers Pool, Tudor Square and Fargate will provide all the fun of the fair.
Out Of This World, which is being run in conjunction with partners including MoorSheffield, Farrah’s Funfairs and Heart Yorkshire, will run free family friendly activities from 10:30am to 5:30pm on Sunday, 23 October.

More details will be revealed nearer the time, but you can join the event page on Facebook through Sheffield Events www.facebook.com/SheffEvents/ where we’ll share all the latest news and updates.
